Rockliffe Hall serves up £1m food preparation areas
Rockliffe Hall, the regions newest five star hotel, spa and golf resort, has invested more than £1million in preparation to serve up five-star dining.
The luxury complex, located in Hurworth near Darlington in County Durham, has teamed up with one of the region’s largest suppliers of catering, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, Blaydon-based Upnorth Group, to install a range of products including kitchen and refrigeration facilities, along with bar and air-conditioning and cellar cooling equipment for all the catering areas within the 375-acre resort.
Nick Holmes, managing director at Rockliffe Hall, said: “We’ve reached such an exciting part of the project. We have a range of restaurant and bar areas throughout the resort that will soon need fitting out. We wanted the very best equipment and we’re thrilled to have found that right here in the North East with Upnorth. This investment will help us provide the innovative and diverse customer experiences in all our many food and drink outlets.”
When completed, Rockliffe Hall will boast a range of eateries including the main hotel fine dining restaurant, a bistro located in the spa and the golf clubhouse restaurant, which will provide traditional and hearty favourites. The new equipment will also be able to cater for major events, including weddings or conferences.
Richard Toye is sales director at Upnorth Catering & Lesiure Ltd and has been working closely with Rockliffe Hall on its requirements. He said: “To be invited to be part of the design team as foodservice consultants was fantastic recognition of our previous achievements, but to be awarded the entire foodservice equipment supply and installation works coupled with the supply and installation contract for the hotels air conditioning systems for such a major development is a fantastic achievement for a local business.”
Stewart Grierson, Upnorth Group Director added: “We’re proud to be part of such an exciting and prestigious project. By some distance, this is the most ambitious project of its kind we’ve been involved with in this region.”
“We have sourced the very best equipment for their bars and restaurants and know the end result will be a very satisfied customer with the tools to deliver their goal.”
Rockliffe Hall is due to open its 18-hole championship golf course, clubhouse and practice facilities in June, with the hotel and spa facility opening later in 2009.
