Shepherd finds its range at luxury development

One of the first buildings on the luxury Rockliffe Hall hotel, golf and spa site in Hurworth, near Darlington has been completed.

Construction partners, Shepherd Construction handed over the keys to the brand new driving range which forms part of the new 18-hole course at Rockliffe Hall.

The state-of-the-art facility has been constructed to blend sympathetically with its surrounding grounds, and will also offer the very best facilities for golf tuition and practice for members and visitors to the hotel and the course.

Davy Cuthbertson, the newly appointed Course Manager at Rockliffe Hall, was on hand to accept the handover of the keys.

He said: “We’re quite a distance from opening the course to players, but this is still a great feeling for everyone at Rockliffe Hall to be taking ownership of some of these buildings already.”

“In know the team at Shepherd’s has worked very hard to produce a structure which will eventually allow us to offer the very best practice facilities in the area.”

The course, which is to be one of the longest in Europe, is part of the five star luxury hotel with Health Club and Spa facilities built on the site of the historic Hurworth Hall which itself is being restored to form part of the hotel. Many of the hall’s original features, such as some of the stunning stained glass windows, will be restored to their former glory on the hotel.

Site manager, Arthur Harrison, added: “Progress on the site is going well and things are starting to take shape. There’s lots more to be done on the project, but its pleasing to be able to complete some of the outlying buildings on the development.”
