Progress Update, Dec 07
It’s pleasing to report, once again, that we remain on schedule with the work being undertaken at Rockliffe Hall.
With a project of this size, it’s very easy for any small item to have a major knock-on effect. The result is the completion dates can drift by weeks or even months. Its testament to all the partners involved with Rockliffe Hall’s development that we remain on course, despite the tricky autumnal conditions.
In terms of the major demolition work being carried out on the outbuildings, this is near completion and the one major demolition project we have remaining on site is to the Old Hall lift shaft, which has fallen into a dangerous state of disrepair. This is underway and should be completed soon.
Since we last updated you on our progress, we are delighted to announce the major piling work has commenced. Piling provides the main support for the foundations of a building, and its moving at such a rate on site that piling to the apartments on the grounds, and indeed the separate apart-hotel rooms has been completed.
Piling work to the main hotel and spa building is now underway and it’s hoped this will all be completed early in the New Year. While on the subject of the main hotel, the scaffold on the old hall has almost reached the halfway stage meaning there will be approximately 20 more weeks before we can remove that and view the exterior of the old hall in all its former glory.
Keen walkers around Low Rockliffe will have seen the bottom half of the golf course taking on a wonderful appearance. The weather conditions while not ideal for the construction teams have seen the seeding take tremendously well at the bottom end of the course. Already, we have some lush green fairways taking shape.
At the main entrance to the site, the new road to Middlesbrough FC’s training ground has now been completed and handed over to the football club. This new road will allow for separate roads into to Rockliffe Hall and the training ground.
Finally, once again, it’s pleasing to note that Shepherd Construction has no accidents to report. For a site that has up to 120 workers on it daily, it’s a tremendous achievement that we’re all very proud of.
We will be back with more updates to the project early in the New Year
