Construction work update - October 2008

The dour summer weather failed to dampen the spirits of those working on site at Rockliffe Hall and we are pleased to say we are still on course for target opening dates, that being the opening of the golf course and its facilities in June 2009.

October will see a host of exciting milestones reached on site, not least the completion of the external faade and roof of the Old Hall.

DEFRA Licence Granted

A DEFRA licence has now been granted to Rockliffe Hall Limited to carry out demolition to the parts of the buildings which will not be retained. The licence was granted to enable the plans to include a contingency for bats which roost in one part of the old buildings. Demolition work will commence on the 25th September and last around 10 weeks.

Work at Rockliffe Hall continues at pace and, now several months into the construction of the golf course and hotel complex, things are starting to take shape.

The Design Team

The Rockliffe Hall development team consists of a number the leading design and construction companies in the North East. The architect for the entire project is Browne Smith Baker of Newcastle and Darlington, and the main construction contractor is Shepherd Construction of York and Darlington.
